Sogn & Fjordane Kunstmuseum, Norway

Sogn & Fjordane Kunstmuseum, Førde, Norway

The Sogn & Fjordane Kunstmuseum by C.F. Møller, is described as a “block of ice that has slid down from the surrounding mountains”, settling in the town of Førde sitting at the edge of the Jostedalsbreen glacier,  which is the largest body of ice in continental Europe.
This idea is reflected within the frosted glass facade of the art museum and illuminated fracture lines that run across the four-storey building. The galleries are accessed by a piercing angular blue staircase that spirals up through the space.
