CET, Budapest







CET, Budapest, Hungary

CET ( standing for 'central european time' and the hungarian word for whale) by ONL [oosterhuis_lénárd]
, is a mixed-use development in the center of budapest. The buliding sits on the banks of the danube and its form reflects the curves of a whale's body.
The contemporary structure of tubular steel and glass is positioned between 19th century warehouses, with glass ceiling arching out from a central spine to the exterior walls, creating an atrium filled with natural daylight.

The U-House by Jorge Graca Costa, is perched at the top of a hill with views over the San Lorenzo bay, and
 is a modern take on a traditional Mediterranean courtyard house, where the shape provides protection from the winds of western Portugal.

A new installation by Antony Gormley for the Deichtorhalle in Hamburg, Germany, comprises of an elevated platform 7.5 metres above the floor, with a black, reflective surface. Visitors are invited on top of the platform, warping the empty space
of the Deichtorhalle, and creating a re-connection with the senses - heightening hearing, seeing and feeling.

Psychiko House by Diversity Architects, is a residential build divided into three distinct parts, the angles of the structure pulls the three parts together as one, yet maintains a distinction between them and their individual purposes, with a curved pool circulating and bounding the site as a whole.

Théâtre of Saint-Nazaire, Saint-Nazaire, France

The newly completed Théâtre of Saint-Nazaire, by  K-Architectures, is a monolithic structure incorporating the adjacent remnants of a neoclassical train station destroyed in world war II, marking the entry to the theatre and refurbished arcades. A pattern of 17th century floral motifs is embossed into the concrete facade.

Dylan Cole is an art director, concept artist, and matte painter who specialises in film, video games, and commercials. Inital interest in comic book art gave way to matte painting and concept design after he saw the Art of Star Wars books. Dylan attended UCLA as a fine art major where he continued to draw and paint traditionally.
A summer internship at ILM opened his eyes to the digital world that he had been avoiding. Within a year and a half of graduating from UCLA, Dylan was off to New Zealand to be a senior matte painter for Return of the King. Since then, Dylan has contributed art to over 50 films including Avatar, Alice in Wonderland, and Tron Legacy.

Distinctions between the two, are the Surfaces' built in kickstand, that seamlessly folds back into the main body, the 'Touch Cover' that acts as both a screen protector and a multi-touch keyboard, 'tap detection',  a pressure-sensitive digitizer that determines whether you meant to press a key or not, and a full size USB port.

The Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry by Chartier-Corbasson Architectes, is an extenion to the town hall in Amiens, France. Creating a dramatic juxtaposition between the southern elevation, enveloped in planting with large glazed windows breaking through, and a traditional existing building that shares the space at the rear of the extension, while the street facing elevation provides a contemporary double screen facade.

Springtime is a Picnic Basket concept by jeriël bobbe of Bloon Design,  is a system that aswell as providing the functions of a traditional picnic basket, can be arranged to use as a dining table with connected seating, and stowed on to a bike rack for easy transportation.

2verandas, Erlenbach, Switzerland

The 2verandas by Gus Wustemann, is family residence of two seperate structures. Built on an inclined site, the main house is at on top of the slope, with views over looking Lake Zurich, and a pool house is located further down the slope, with a stone promenade connecting the two buildings.
