The Pit House, Okayama, Japan
The Pit House by Keisuke Maeda, is built into the hillside, yet it allows the residents 360-degree views of the surrounding area. This realised by mounting the above structure on 50 poles, creating a surround skylight for the inside. The structure’s boxy surface silhouette conceals curving walls, and in spite of being mostly underground, the residence is open and filled with light.
